Genesis: “Crawl with me, Mama.”
Mama: “Sorry, baby. Mommy is not able to crawl with you.”
Genesis strokes my gloved hand and says, “It’s ok, Mama. It’s ok.”
Genesis: “Heeeeeeead, shoulders, knees and toes. Knees and toes.”
Mama sings along, making all of the gestures while pointing to my toes.
Genesis: “Heeeeeeead, shoulders, knees and toes. Knees and…”
Running towards me, she bends down and shouts, “TOES!”
Genesis: “Hi Mama. Good morning.”
Mama: “Good morning, Genesis. Ready for your milk?”
I transfer to my chair and stroll to the kitchen, exerting less effort than usual. I turn around to see the top of Genny’s head and her two little hands below the handles.
Mama: “Are you helping Mommy?”
Genesis: “I’m Mama’s helper.”
I think she gets it.
