I woke up dreaming of an enormous salad with loads of fruit, chicken (or shrimp or calamari) and feta lightly drizzled with an asian-inspired dressing, but my favorite spots for this crunchy satisfaction are all in the city. Traffic. Limited parking. Poorly accessible for me and the munchkin for a quick bite. So I began to wonder…where are all of the healthy or even somewhat healthy options with a drive-thru?
Summertime usually spells disaster for my diet. The sweet tea and freshly-squeezed lemonade followed by the cool mint chocolate chip ice cream completely demolish all the nutrition that the calorie-saving salads provide. Echyfvdemtcawbjdvkngjjlkfdxtfwdnjk. Sorry. That was me wiping the drool off of the keyboard.
My biggest downfall? French fries. Oh boy. I can eat fries all day, everyday. And (un)fortunately, there are lots of options that are readily available: salty fries, waffle fries, natural-cut with sea salt, steak fries. And top them off with cheese or old bay seasoning or vinegar or hot sauce…uh oh. My mouth is watering again. Maybe I should grab one of the munchkin’s bibs while I finish my thought.
Anyway, back to my dilemma: healthy drive-thrus.
Maybe it’s an oxymoron because good food takes time or you should exercise by walking to the restaurant. Well, those are not reasonable options for a mom of a toddler on wheels.
If I had my way, these spots would have drive-thrus:
2. Panera Bread
5. Au Bon Pain
What would you add to the list? Do you have any somewhat healthy drive-thru joints that you would recommend? Jot down your expertise in the comments below.
